Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 Launch Now Tipped for October 15

The Mi MIX 3 is expected to feature a 6.4-inch Quad HD+ AMOLED display and will ditch the notch seen on Mi 8 and front camera placed on the chin in the previous Mi MIX smartphones. It will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with 6GB or 8GB of RAM, and up to 128GB internal storage. It is expected to feature dual 12-megapixel rear cameras aided by AI, and a 20-megapixel selfie shooter at the front. The selfie camera will be coupled with additional depth sensors for the Face ID implementation. The Mi MIX is also tipped to pack a huge 4,000mAh battery with support for Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4.0.
Leaks surrounding the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 have been around since July, however the smartphone hasn't been revealed yet. Now, a fresh leak suggests that the Mi Mix 3 may be launched as soon as October 15. Xiaomi President Lin Bin had earlier confirmed an October launch, and this leak seems to lend weight to that claim. CEO Lei Jun had also said that he will "force" his colleagues to "speed up" the mass production and "fight for large-scale" sales at the end of October. Taking all of this into account, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is now expected to launch on October 15, and go on sale by the end of this month. A Mi Mix 3 poster has been leaked on Weibo, showing the October 15 launch date, and notes the venue to be Nanjing Olympics Sports Centre. Of course, this is just a leak and no official confirmation from Xiaomi has been received. The company was earlier touted to launch the device on September 15, but that didn't happen either. We recommend you take everything with a pinch of salt, until an official launch date is announced by Xiaomi itself. Another image leak (seen below) on Weibo shows the Mi Mix 3 with a true bezel-less design, something that has been leaked extensively earlier as well.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 Launch Now Tipped for October 15

The longtime rumoured Mi Mix 3 finally gets a launch date. But, the date hasn't been confirmed by Xiaomi yet. Two new teasers leaked on the Chinese microblogging site Weibo reveal that the Mi Mix 3 may go official on October 15. As noted, Xiaomi is yet to confirm the same. To recall, previous reports had suggested that Mi Mix 3 will be launching on September 15, but that didn't happen. For now, we aren't sure if the October 15 is actually the launch date of the Mi Mix 3, but what is confirmed for sure is that the phone will be launching this month itself. Xiaomi might launch its Mi Mix 3 smartphone on October 15 suggests a new leaked image of the invite for the same on Weibo. In an earlier post made by Xiaomi President Lin Bin on Weibo, it was confirmed that the company is ramping up on its mass production of the device and will be launching it in October. This invite simply puts a date to the already confirmed month of launch. According to the leaked invite, the launch event will take place on October 15 in the Nanjing Olympics Sports Centre. Recent reports suggest that the Mi Mix 3 will also sport a slide out camera unit similar to the Oppo Find X. However, the device, unlike Oppo’s Find X, will not feature a motorised camera module, instead, the unit will be a manual one. Xiaomi President Lin Bin in August this year confirmed that the Mi Mix 3 is coming in October, but never revealed the launch date. He also posted an image of the phone which revealed that the Mi Mix 3 will get a major revamp in a lot of aspects. The image revealed that the Mi Mix 3 will come with a sliding camera on the front and looks somewhat similar to the Oppo Find X. The slider is expected to equip the selfie camera, earpiece and some sensors. Xiaomi is yet to reveal details on how the camera slider of the Mi Mix 3 will work. Earlier leaks suggest that the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 will sport a Samsung QHD+ AMOLED display panel with COP packaging technology. It will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor paired with Adreno 630 GPU. The device will come with a 20MP camera up front for taking selfies.

The new teasers leaked on Weibo don't reveal any new information about the Mi Mix 3. The teasers just show the Mi Mix 3 with full-screen display and tips that the phone could launch on Oct 15. According to a report by AndroidPure, the Mi Mix 3 will four RAM/internal storage variants – 6GB RAM/64GB internal storage, 6GB RAM/128GB internal storage, 8GB RAM/128GB internal storage and an 8GB RAM/256GB internal storage priced at $510 (approximately Rs 36,300), $555 (approximately Rs 39,500), $600 (approximately Rs 42,700) and $645 (approximately Rs 45,900), respectively.Ahead of the launch, a lot has been already talked about the Mi Mix 3. Going by the rumours it looks like the Mi Mix 3 will be a follow up of the Mi Mix 2S. The smartphone will come with a bezel-less design, two cameras on the rear panel and single on the front just as the 2S. As noted, the selfie camera of the phone will be embedded inside the slider. We expect the front camera of the phone to work just like the Oppo Find X. This means, on opening the camera app the slider will pop-up and capture the selfie, and after the app is closed the slider will go down. As for the camera configuration, the Mi Mix 3 is expected to come with a 16-megapixel primary camera and a 12-megapixel secondary camera on the back. On the front, the Mi Mix 3 is said to sport the same camera setup as the Mi Mix 2S, which is a 5MP.

The Mi MIX series has been a hit since it first arrived in 2016. Xiaomi is set to launch the 4th phone in the series called the Mi MIX 3 anytime soon. Images of the phone were posted on the web by Xiaomi’s own president at IFA Berlin with a promise to launch in October. Now it appears there is an official release date. The Mi Mix 3 is expected to come with a much bigger screen compared to the Mi Mix 2 and the Mix 2S. Rumours say that the phone could sport a 6-inch display with 19:9 aspect ratio. Some rumours also suggest that the Mi Mix 3 will include an in-display fingerprint sensor, while some hints at a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. So, there's still some confusion whether the Mi Mix 3 will sport a fingerprint sensor under the display or on the rear panel.

An image has surfaced online and it reveals that the Mi MIX 3 will launch on October 15. That is about two weeks from today. Although there is no way to confirm the authenticity of the image, Xiaomi executives did state that October is when the device is scheduled for launch. Nevertheless, we advise you take the above date with a grain of salt until we get confirmation. The Mi MIX 3, as revealed in the images, will have a slider albeit mechanical. This slider design is because of the very thin bezels around the screen much like that of the Vivo NEX. It will come with a Snapdragon 845 processor under the hood and is also reported to have a dedicated AI assistant button and an in-display fingerprint scanner. We expect the Mi Mix 3 to be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 processor. Rumours suggest that the phone will come in two variants. The base model with 6GB RAM and 256GB of storage, while the top-end model of the phone is said to include 8GB RAM paired with 256GB of internal storage. The Mi Mix 3 is also tipped to come with IP68 rating and hence is expected to be water and dust resistant. It is likely to run the latest Android Oreo-based MIUI 10.
