Oppo F9 Review: Oppo F9 price in India starts from Rs. 17,991

hen Oppo launched the F9 Pro (Review) in the market last month, it also announced the Oppo F9 at the same event. The Oppo F9 ₹ 17,991 was not given as much attention as its sibling, and it has only just recently become available in the market. In comparison to the Oppo F9 Pro, this less expensive version lacks VOOC fast charging, has 4GB of RAM instead of 6GB, and the 25-megapixel selfie camera has been cut down to 16 megapixels. However, all these reductions to the features and specifications result in a lower price. While the F9 Pro is priced at Rs 23,990, the new Oppo F9 comes in at a Rs. 4,000 less.
While the Oppo F9 is more affordable than the F9 Pro, there are a lot of smartphones at around this price that offer good value for money. Should the Oppo F9 be your first choice? We put it to the test to find out. The Oppo F9/F9 Pro is yet another installment in the hugely popular Oppo mid-range series. It's the first phone in the family with a dual-camera on the back and backtracks on the screen cutouts by moving to a tiny waterdrop notch. You have probably noticed we are using the F9/F9 Pro inscription for this review and there is a reason for that. Oppo has chosen a rather awkward approach to the naming of its mid-ranger. In India - one of the key markets for the F-series - the F9 is available in two versions. There is the F9 Pro with 6GB of RAM, a 25MP selfie camera and VOOC flash charging, and the regular Oppo F9 with 4GB of RAM, a 16MP selfie shooter, and no VOOC charging. Yet in every other market Oppo is selling only the F9 but with specs matching the Indian pro version(6GB, 25MP, VOOC). So, the phone we got for review is called F9, but specs-wise it's identical to the F9 Pro as seen in India. We hope this clears it up and we'll refer to the phone as just F9 from here on.

Oppo F9/F9 Pro review Oppo F9 price in India

When it comes to shape and size, the Oppo F9 and the Oppo F9 Pro are identical. To help distinguish between the two models, Oppo offers different finishes. While the F9 Pro gets flashy colour schemes with different patterns and gradients, the F9 has a diamond cut pattern similar to what we saw on the Realme 1 (Review). There are two colour options, Mist Black and Stellar Purple. The whole pattern isn’t visible at all times, but sections pop up when light hits the back of this phone at different angles. We had the purple version in for review, and it looks quite different from the many black and gold smartphones currently in the market.

In 2018, there’s a thin line between a fashion statement and a smartphone for daily use. With how the designs are evolving, the line is only going to get murkier. Take the Oppo F9 Pro for instance. The company calls it a work of art. And for the most part, it is. Oppo clearly has spent a lot of time refining the design of the phone. You get a whole new notch on top of the display and gradient colour patterns. It clearly looks different and in the price range it launched at, the Oppo F9 Pro does have a lot of competition. It’s new from the inside as well with an updated version of ColorOS based on Android 8.1 Oreo and super-fast VOOC charging. It also happens to be the first phone in Oppo’s F-series to feature a dual rear camera. That’s a lot of new things for the Chinese upstart, but how do they add up in the larger scheme of things? Let’s find out.

The internals are well chosen too - the Helio P60 chip has already proven as a solid mid-range performer, you get a dual-camera on the back with bright lens and a super high-res selfie snapper. Add the large battery with VOOC support and it looks like a great package. Sadly we are still seeing a dated microUSB port.

The Oppo F9 is made out of plastic, and its highlight feature is its display. It has a smaller notch compared to what we have seen on most other smartphones in the market. Oppo calls this a ‘waterdrop’ design, and it only houses the 16-megapixel selfie camera. The earpiece is cleverly positioned above it, helping in making the notch smaller. Vivo’s V11 Pro (Review) has a similar notch, and the upcoming OnePlus 6T is also rumoured to sport it. The Oppo F9  Pro certainly looks stunning. The design including the gradient glass back and the water drop notch does make the phone stand out. The new UI also helps make the phone look more premium. But it’s performance leaves a lot to be desired, especially considering the price it’s offered at and the competition. The Snapdragon 845-powered Poco F1 is available at a lower price point while the Nokia 7 Plus is an all-rounder in terms of performance and imaging. The primary (if not the only one) reason to get the Oppo F9 Pro is for its selfie camera that relies on extensive AI algorithms to deliver results that are both eye-pleasing and well-detailed. The VOOC charging tech is also nullified somewhat by a poor battery life. Get this only if you are a selfie enthusiast and consider your smartphone to be a fashion statement.

Moto G7 Lineup Now Rumoured to Come With 4 New Models Next Year

2018 year hasn't been all that good for Motorola, which is why the company has seemingly started working on its next year's lineup already, with the aim to return back to the competition. Rumours say that the smartphone manufacturer is already working on the G7 series for next year. Rumours also say that Motorola is going to launch only two phones under the G7 lineup -- Moto G7 and the G7 Plus -- and skip the Play version. The information, however, is not yet confirmed by the company.
Moto G7 lineup is now rumoured to include four distinct models, including the Moto G7 Play, Moto G7 Plus, and Moto G7 Power - alongside the standard Moto G7. The latest rumour surfaces after the alleged specification sheet of the Moto G7 leaked online. The smartphone is expected to come with a 6.4-inch display and include an octa-core SoC. It is also rumoured to carry a dual rear camera setup along with a 16-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary. The Moto G7 is reported to run Android 9.0 Pie out-of-the-box.

Moto G7 may pack 6.7-inch display, dual rear cameras

Famous tipster Evan Blass, who leaks unannounced developments through his @evleaks Twitter handle, has revealed that Lenovo-owned Motorola is set to launch four models under the Moto G7 lineup next year. It is said that there will be Moto G7 Play, Moto G7 Plus, and Moto G7 Power as well as the standard Moto G7. Notably, if we believe what Blass has tweeted, there will be more models in the Moto G7 lineup over this year's Moto G6 that was launched earlier this year in the standard Moto G6, Moto G6 Play, and Moto G6 Plus models. The addition of the Power model in the new lineup is likely to bring a massive battery option in the lineup.

Moto G7 lineup is now rumoured to include four distinct models, including the Moto G7 Play, Moto G7 Plus, and Moto G7 Power – alongside the standard Moto G7. When Lenovo acquired Motorola in 2014, it shook the Moto G line up a little. Gone was the single phone, instead multiple models were launched, and of these the ‘G Plus’ model was the most important addition.

With specs that were distinctly not budget, but a price tag that certainly was, this moved the G line up into the bourgeoisie of the smartphone world. In 2018, the Moto G6 Plus was no exception to the rule, balancing a refined design, enough power and a quality experience to superb results.

The Moto G6 lineup is still fresh on the shelves from earlier this year, but that doesn't mean that Motorola isn't working on a follow-up. So Waqar Khan took the time to create 3D renders of what the device might look like based on the existing leaks. Some time ago, live pictures of the Motorola One and an unknown device appeared. Now the original source on Weibo was found and the mysterious device turned out to be a Moto G7 prototype. Khan's renders give us a more detailed look at how the device might be designed. We've got relatively thick bezels on the sides and the top with a big chin while the waterdrop-styled notch doesn't seem to be taking too much space.

Nokia 7.1 vs Nokia 6.1 Plus: What's the Difference?

HMD Global, Nokia’s licensee today launched its new mid-range smartphone, Nokia 6.1 Plus in India. Priced at Rs 15,999 for the 4GB RAM/64GB storage model; the mid-range offering from Nokia’s shelf will be available for purchase from August 30 via Flipkart and Nokia website. The successor to the Nokia 6.1, Nokia 6.1 Plus features a 5.8-inch 19:9 display with a notch on top of the front panel. Notably, the smartphone is the first from the company to offer a notch-style screen. Underneath the glass body sits a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 octa-core processor. The phone runs pure Android Oreo OS and comes with dual rear camera sensors.
Nokia 7.1 is HMD Global’s latest smartphone in its expansive range of Nokia handsets that has grown over the past couple of years. The Nokia 7.1 borrows the design philosophy of the Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 5.1 Plus and sports a 19:9 display with a notch, a substantial chin, and vertically aligned dual rear cameras. In the mid-range smartphone segment, the Nokia 7.1 competes with HMD Global’s Nokia 6.1 Plus. The Nokia 6.1 Plus has similar specifications, including the same Snapdragon 636 SoC, 19:9 display, and 3,060mAh battery. However, it does have a different set of cameras and will get Android Pie this month. Let’s check out the differences in pricing and specifications of the Nokia 7.1 and Nokia 6.1 Plus.

Nokia 7.1 vs Nokia 6.1 Plus: What's the Difference?

Alongside the 6.1 Plus, Nokia also unveiled Nokia 5.1 Plus at the launch event. Similar to the 6.1 Plus, the 5.1 plus flaunts an all-screen design and a notch-style display. To recall, Nokia originally introduced the Nokia X6 and Nokia X5 in China. The Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 5.1 Plus are the rebranded versions of the Nokia X6 and Nokia X5 respectively for the global market. The new Nokia 5.1 Plus sports a 5.86-inch HD+ display. Powering the phone is a MediaTek Helio P60 processor clocked at 1.8GHz. The smartphone offers dual cameras at the back. Nokia 5.1 Plus runs a stock version of Android Oreo OS and comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB onboard storage. While the handset made its global debut in India today, HMD Global did not reveal the official price for the Nokia 5.1 Plus yet. The company cited a global pricing of the Nokia 5.1 Plus at EUR 199 (approximately Rs 15,900) and said that the smartphone will be released in September.

Nokia 7.1 vs Nokia 6.1 price
Nokia 7.1 price ranges from EUR 299 (roughly Rs. 25,300) to EUR 349 (about Rs. 29,600), depending on the region it is being sold in. The phone has been launched in Gloss Midnight Blue and Gloss Steel colour variants, and will be available in European markets starting later this month. There is currently no word on India pricing and availability.

On the other hand, the Nokia 6.1 Plus has been priced in India at Rs. 15,999 and is available, in Gloss Black, Gloss Midnight Blue, and Gloss White colour options, via Flipkart and Nokia online store in the country. Customers are entitled to no-cost EMI plans and free data on the Jio network. The Nokia 6.1 Plus was first launched globally in Hong Kong at a price of HKD 2,288 (roughly Rs. 21,500) in Blue and White colour options.

Nokia 7.1 vs specifications
Both the Nokia 7.1 and Nokia 6.1 Plus are dual-SIM (Nano) smartphones that run a stock version of Android 8.1 Oreo, based on the Android One programme. While the Nokia 7.1 is slated to get Android 9.0 Pie next month, the Nokia 6.1 Plus has been confirmed to receive the update in October itself. Much like other design elements, the Nokia 7.1 and Nokia 6.1 Plus sport a similar-looking vertical dual rear camera setup, albeit with different sensors. The Nokia 7.1 gets a 12-megapixel primary sensor, with autofocus and f/1.8 aperture, and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor, with fixed focus and f/2.4 aperture - the rear camera setup features Zeiss optics, EIS, as well as two-phase detection. On the other hand, the Nokia 6.1 Plus features a 16-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor, both with f/2.0 aperture and 1-micron pixel size. On the front, the Nokia 7.1 bears an 8-megapixel fixed focus sensor with f/2.0 aperture and an 84-degree field-of-view. The Nokia 6.1 Plus gets a 16-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture and 1-micron pixel size.

Once again, both the Nokia 7.1 and Nokia 6.1 Plus sport non-removable 3,060mAh battery units under the hood. The Nokia 7.1 comes with support for 18W fast charging, which claims to deliver 50 percent charge in 30 minutes. The Nokia 6.1 Plus has support for 10W fast charging. Both phones sport face-mounted fingerprint sensors and software-based face unlock authentication.
